Did you know that 800 cats and dogs are euthanized very hour in the United States. This is a very sad, but preventable statistic.  Let’s end this unnecessary killing of wonderful animals in our country.  Together we can do that by making the commitment to spay or neuter your pet.

Spay/neuter is the only permanent, 100-percent effective method of birth control for cats and dogs and a proven way to reduce the vast numbers of animals who are born only to die prematurely and without a family who loves them. The decision to spay or neuter your pet can be the single best decision you make for his long-term welfare. Getting your pet spayed or neutered can:

  • Reduce the number of homeless pets killed
  • Improve your pet’s health
  • Reduce bad behaviors
  • Save on cost of pet care

Did you also know that adopting pet from CCHS also helps reduce the number of unwanted litters born?  This is because very animal adopted from CCHS is sterilized prior to adoption.  If you would like to support our effort to spay and neuter animals in our community PLEASE donate to CCHS! Together we are making a difference. Special thanks to the Herman Gundlach Fund and the Keweenaw Community Foundation for helping the animals in our community.
