Update from Chewy

Thanks for all the wonderful get well wishes ! Just here at the animal medical center to get my stitches out and a bit more surgery. And I have exciting news, I am getting adopted!! Yes, this is me and my new mom! I get to live in Marquette and be close to my doctors since I do need more surgery on my ears.  My mom called me gorgeous the moment she met me, even with this big gigantic cone on and my ears all wrapped like a mummy.  She got right on the floor with me, held my head in her hands and said “you are for me”.  I must confess, my heart was racing, my tail was wagging and I was hoping she would love me at first sight.  And she did! I know the surgery is not over yet,  CCHS and AMC/Dr. Aho are committed to doing everything they can to help make my ears as normal as possible.  They are still raising money to cover all the expense and I am so grateful that everyone feels I am worth it.  Most of all, I am so happy I got adopted by a wonderful lady who thinks I am the best.  Thanks for all the support, great medical care and for giving me a better life! Love you all…. Chewy

Hi Everyone…it’s Chewy. I am the dashing and adorable standard poodle/spaniel mix that was featured a couple weeks ago. PLEASE READ my story and share – Little update – Everyone here at CCHS is great, they love me and take great care of me. However, CCHS staff noticed I had ear problems and brought me to CCVC. Dr. Barnhart discovered I have horrible, infected scared ears. The tissue all the way into the canal is all thickened with nodules and filled with puss (sorry so graphic) and I needed very specialized surgery.

AMC/Dr. Aho fit me into his surgery schedule Monday. He shared that my ears were the worst he has ever seen. I will probably need additional surgery and procedures but for now, I am trying to get used to this crazy cone and let the healing process begin. I just wanted you all to know that your support and donations mean the world to dogs like me. Without it, we would not get these life saving surgeries or medical procedures we desperately need. YOU DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE! CCHS is accepting donations for my surgery and to help cover additional procedures so if you would like to help, please visit the CCHS website – www.cchumanesociety.com and click donations or send your gift to CCHS – P.O. Box 453 – Houghton, MI 49931. I want to give a special thanks to CCHS staff, Dr. Barnhart/CCVC and Dr. Aho at AMC for doing all you can to help me live a normal life and enjoy just being a dog again without chronic ear pain and horrible discomfort. THANK YOU ALL!

Side Note – the volunteer who picked up Chewy after surgery still got a tail wag and a kiss. That says so much about the kindness animals have towards humans and the unconditional love no matter what pain they are in. LOVE YOU CHEWY!
