Help Alice’s Heart!

CCHS often partners with other shelters to take in dogs and cats when we have room for them. It not only helps those shelters, but more importantly, it saves lives.  Alice was a dog who captured our attention and hearts the minute we saw her.  Her unique look and beautiful blue eyes popped out from her photo. Unfortunately, the big red HW+ on her photo also stood out.  Sweet Alice, only a few years old, is heartworm positive.  We’re not sure why her owner gave her up to a shelter downstate, but perhaps it was because they couldn’t afford the heartworm treatment. Heartworm treatment is very expensive. We had no doubt that Alice deserved saving regardless of her medical condition.  She has a long, amazing life to live if only given the chance.  Sadly, many dogs in Alice’s condition are euthanized or passed over because of their medical condition.  Young dogs with lives ended through no fault of their own.  Knowing we may very well be her one good chance, it was never really an option whether or not to save her life.  It was less than a week after seeing Alice’s photo that she arrived in the Upper Peninsula and there have been no regrets at all.  Alice is the sweetest, most loving and amazing dog. She loves everyone and everything and this made us even more sure we made the right decision.  In fact, it wasn’t long before Alice had a ton of interest in her because of her wonderfully sweet disposition.  We took her in from another shelter because we know she’s worth it, just as so many dogs are.  We save as many as we can and we are able to do so because we have supporters like you that help us.  YOU save these animals just as much as we do.  While we may take them in and do the day-to-day care, without your support, we wouldn’t be able to do that.  Alice has a wonderful family waiting to take her home where she can live a happy and heartworm free life.  Please consider donating to help us get Alice healthy and ready for her happily ever after.  Thank you!!

Thank You Sandy! Donation Note: This money is for Alice. My dog was rescued from MO and she was heartworm positive and her rescue and foster family raised enough money for her to be treated. She is now a happy healthy 5 year old and the best little girl ever! Alice deserves the same chance. This money is being donated from my dog, Cynnamon and she wishes Alice the best life! Hugs to Alex from Cynnamon (Because of Mandy Alumni).
