I was looking for an older female cat and wanted one who needed a home so I went to the CCHS. I had waited a few yrs after losing my cat, Josey, who was just a couple months shy of 22 yrs old. I wanted to wait until I was ready and find a good fit for my family which includes three children.
I had settled on two personalities and was going back and forth trying to chose. I wasn’t quite sold on either. I was under the impression I would know when I found “her”. I was checking out another cat when I noticed a beautiful tortoise cat in the bottom crate. I took her out and she began to lick my hands and was just content to sit in my lap and purr. That was it. I was hooked. I knew she’d found me and I her. I was so excited. I came back the next day with my children to see how she reacted to their manhandling and she was so patient. We took her home that Saturday.
She fit in right away. My 7 yr old told me, “I can’t believe we have a cat. Is like a dream come true!”. She is my girl although she really likes the kids too. She enjoys playing with all the toys on strings that we have. She loves to sit in the window and stalk the birds. She has some odd quirks, for instance, she likes to have someone watch her while she eats and drinks! Weird but true. If you’re in the bathroom she thinks its her time to be petted. She likes to lay on my chest except she tends to put her butt in my face. We’re working on that.
Anyway, if you are Meeka’s prior owner, just know she is in a home where she is loved and I hope she’ll live as long as Josey. The world’s oldest cat was 26 so maybe Meeka will beat that record. I hope. She is a doll. Thank you.
