Me & my fiance Allen moved to Hancock in July so he could attend school for his 3rd year at Michigan Tech.
We knew for sure that we wanted to adopt an animal from the Copper Country Humane Society, we just weren’t sure who it would be. We thought about getting a cat, but ultimately decided we would adopt a dog. We weren’t sure what to expect when we jumped in the car & headed to CCHS, but we were greeted with kind faces & lots of barking!
After walking around and seeing who was there, we decided to walk a few different dogs but found that they weren’t the right fit for us, after taking a tour one last time our eyes found Selma. She was in a kennel with another dog who was barking and seemed to be sitting on top of her (she didn’t mind). We asked to take her out for a walk and as soon as we got her outside me & Allen looked at each other and knew she was our girl.
We were lucky enough to take her home a few days later, September 18, 2013. She adjusted quickly to her new home and soon found out that she was in charge. Our girl has an obsession with any type of bread and will take it out of your hand if you aren’t careful 🙂
We are so grateful to the CCHS & all of its staff for helping us adopt our baby girl. We could not have asked for a more amazing dog & we love her to pieces.
Thank you!!!
