Last summer CCHS was a safe haven for hundreds of unwanted cats and kittens. Most of them came in as strays and were not claimed by their owners. Many were pregnant which resulted in over a hundred kittens looking for homes in just our little community. Spay/neuter is the only permanent, 100-percent effective method of birth control for cats and dogs and a proven way to reduce the vast numbers of animals who are born only to die prematurely and without a family who loves them.
The decision to spay or neuter your pet can be the single best decision you make for his long-term welfare. Getting your pet spayed or neutered can:
- Reduce the number of homeless pets killed
- Improve your pet’s health
- Reduce bad behaviors
- Save on cost of pet care
CCHS is launching a community wide spay/neuter initiative in honor of National Spay Day! CCHS is offering a $50.00 voucher towards a cat spay/neuter. Spay Day™ is an international day of action to promote spaying or neutering as an effective and humane means of decreasing the euthanasia of millions of homeless animals in shelters. If you would like to apply for a CCHS Spay/Neuter voucher, please email: contactus@www.cchumanesociety.com or call 906-487-9560.
Did you also know that adopting a cat or kitten from CCHS also helps reduce the number of unwanted litters born? This is because very animal adopted from CCHS is sterilized prior to adoption. If you would like to support our effort to spay and neuter animals in our community PLEASE donate to CCHS! Together we are making a difference.
